If All Else Fails - A Sight For Sore Eyes

A city skyscape in brown and grey
the buildings, short of their aspirations, rise
the huddled mass in obscurity
their dreams, defeated, retreat into the sky
...like mine

the gridlock mornings and afternoons
workers resigned to an ordinary fate
Florescent office sterility
the stresses of routine drive their dreams away
...day by day

this sordid sty, this sullen sky; why even try?
just when I, could up and die,
an eyesore, my eyesore

misery, debris, unavoidably
I look up and sure enough
an eyesore, my eyesore

and I soar again!

the screen, it won't tell a lie tonight
the faces sallow and sick, unfed they cry
the numbers grasping in fruitless pain
their light extinguished before their dreams can die
...like mine

this sordid sty, this sullen sky; why even try?
just when I, could up and die,
an eyesore, my eyesore

misery, debris, unavoidably
I look up and sure enough
an eyesore, my eyesore

and I soar again!

there's only love and that's good enough
there's only love and that's good enough
there's only you and that's good enough
my sight for sore eyes
